The National Library of Kosova ‘Pjetër Bogdani’, an important cultural and educational institution, was founded on November 25, 1944, in the city of Prizren. This step marked an important moment for the preservation and promotion of the cultural and intellectual heritage of Kosova. Two years later, in 1946, the library was transferred to Prishtina, where it continued to develop and prosper as a major center of information and knowledge.
Mission: The National Library of Kosova preserves, promotes and provides access to the cultural and intellectual records of Kosova, as well as develops libraries and librarianship throughout Kosova.
Vision: As the highest library institution in Kosovo, the National Library enriches the lives of the citizens of Kosova through its inspiring building, dynamic collections, prompt and efficient service, and leadership of libraries throughout Kosova.
