“Rilindja” and Its Legacy in Albanian Cultural Memory

Within the framework of the 23rd edition of Library Week, which will commence on 28 September 2026, the National Library of Kosovo organizes the symposium entitled “Rilindja” and Its Legacy in Albanian Cultural Memory. This event is dedicated to the intellectual, cultural, and heritage role of the “Rilindja” in Albanian collective memory.
On this occasion, the National Library of Kosovo invites former employees of “Rilindja”, scholars, researchers, academics, librarians, archivists, journalists, legal experts, and all interested participants to submit paper proposals.
The symposium aims to establish a platform for discussion on the legacy of “Rilindja”, with the purpose of documenting, studying, and promoting this important intellectual heritage.
Proposed topics for papers include:
- The press as a dialogue with the outside world: Rilindja as the voice of Kosovo Albanians during the Yugoslav period;
- The documentary heritage of the press in cultural identity;
- The press as a form of intellectual and cultural resistance;
- The press as an archive of collective memory;
- The press as a space of symbolic resistance and the production of cultural awareness through written language.
Presentation of papers
Interested parties are invited to send:
- Title of the papers
- An abstract of 200 – 300 words
- A short professional biography (up to 100 words)
