The Institute of History of Kosovo “Ali Hadri”, in cooperation with the National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani”, organized the documentary exhibition entitled “Resistance in Kosovo 1980–1999 through the Underground Press”, in the premises of the National Library of Kosovo “Pjetër Bogdani”.
The exhibition presents a documentary journey through clandestine publications that circulated in Kosovo during the period 1980–1999 – a period characterized by political, cultural and civic resistance, as well as by continuous efforts to preserve national identity, the right to information and freedom of expression.
Through the materials on display, visitors are offered the opportunity to get to know up close the forms of intellectual and social organization that developed outside the official channels of the time. These materials represent important historical and documentary evidence of the role that the underground press played in preserving the collective consciousness and in articulating demands for freedom and political rights in Kosovo.
This activity is carried out within the framework of inter-institutional cooperation between the Institute of History of Kosovo and the National Library of Kosovo, with the aim of promoting historical memory, documentary values and public access to sources that testify to the historical developments of the country.
